Click Your Cleats Together Three Times…There’s No Place Like Home

Is it a cleat? Yes. Is it a high heel? Yes. Are they available in a size 7? I don’t know. I don’t think I want to know. If you click these cleats together three times though and repeat the phrase “there’s no place like home” they will not magically bring you safely to home plate (perhaps if they were red?).

I grew up in the early to mid 90’s. Anyone else remember your classmates stealing bowling shoes from local bowling alleys and wearing them to school? I never understood that shoe selection and I’m not quite sure it can even considered a 90’s fad. I mean, seriously, rented, dirty, hideous, two-toned (often)…does one wear them with the tuck-and-rolled jeans or with a skort? Yuck, leave them on the shelf.

I am planning my 20-year class reunion in fact with a fun and productive committee (did you do the math to figure out how old this belle is?). The end of June we will walk down memory lane in comfortable shoes. I am fairly certain I won’t be shopping for any type of heel for the semi-formal dinner but definitely not this one. My baseball passion is deep and I could use some height because I’m only 5’2″…but no thanks.

While watching Major League Baseball, I do closely observe what the players are wearing from their sunglasses, cleats, necklaces and more. Hey, I am female, these accessories are important! I could tell you what most of the Detroit Tiger’s players wear for both home and away games-especially Miguel Cabrera and Jose Iglesias 😉

Well, I gotta run (in slippers) and I need to find my fanny pack.

No Crying Nor Lace In Baseball…Only Leather For My Style Of Baseball Glove

I prefer a unique style of my own just as much as the next gal (or guy) but some things aren’t meant to hang in my closet! And to be quite honest, I’m sporting sweats and a t-shirt presently as I type-cool and comfortable, that’s my style.

I was Googling “unique baseball gloves” today online and came across some memorable mitts. I found I am partial to anything with a vintage flair to it as far as to acquire and not actually use it. My preference on gloves to actually use? I’m not completely sure yet, but I’ll keep you posted. While I am female, my style isn’t to wear anything too girly so no pink mitts unless it’s a special one to support breast cancer awareness 🙂 And no lace, I’m not a fan of lace.

How amazing are these vintage 1926 leather handball gloves by Ken-Wel? These I would proudly place in my coffee & consignment shop I am planning to open in Marshall, MI as decor only-NOT FOR SALE! Beautiful condition and I love the look. An immaculate, historic home built in 1898 is my hopeful location for the store but God’s going to have to work a miracle for that to happen-keep the faith! These gorgeous gloves would look fantastic sitting right beyond the counter I have planned in front of a wooden maple fireplace, on the mantel.

I believe my baseball (ok, softball) glove of choice to use in a game would have a similar look to these. (No lace, only leather). I’ll keep searching and I’ll post my top 3 choices just before the 2015 MLB All-Star Game. Remind me, hold me to this, I could forget, I am approaching 40-years-young 😉 If you would like to send me your favorite style of baseball gloves, please do! I will give you a shout out mention on Twitter and here on the unveiling of my 3 favorites if I choose yours.

It’s great to be back with all of you! I am truly touched by all of the messages I received while away from this website. Thank you for your support and love and following me.

Go Tigers! (yeah I’m Belle of Baseball…but ya’ll know my passion is for Detroit)

Yeah…I’d Tote That

Yeah...I'd Tote That

The smell of a quality, leather handbag is like a fine perfume to this baseball gal’s nose. But how much BETTER would it’s scent be and with how much MORE STYLE would I have, as I tote this BASEBALL GLOVE HANDBAG??
But would I take on the challenge of making one for myself? Hmmm. I have made a handful of repurposed handbags/totes/purses but I don’t know…

For now the only way for me to ‘swipe this bag’ is by cash or charge.

Later this summer, I will share the baseball style bags I have created.

To Shea or Not To Shea Your Hair?

Baseball fans are still buzzing about the newly unveiled MLB  batting practice caps, so I thought I’d keep the rally going and discuss about what lies smashed beneath whatever hat style you choose:

Our hair.

Love Your Hair?

Love Your Hair?

How many of us have cut out photos of various hairstyles we love and excitedly bring them to our stylist hoping she can create the same look for us?  Most likely what draws us to certain styles besides our own personal taste is how healthy it appears.

Perhaps one of your resolutions for the new year is to have longer, curlier, more manageable hair or maybe even adding a colorful tint to your tendrils with a new color.  Regardless of what it is you desire to do, the most important thing is to ensure your hair is healthy.  I suggest bringing your mane to a healthy condition before you do anything else, especially if you’re planning on putting any chemicals in your hair (perms, dyes, etc).

How do you get beautiful, shiny healthy hair?  Naturally.

Recently I discovered (and tried) various all-natural products for my hair and face.  I truthfully had never put much thought into what the ingredients were in my hair products until last year.  Something about turning 35-years-old had me contemplating  my facial product choices so I began googling ‘natural face cleansers’, ‘all-natural face soap’, etc.  After gathering important factual research (I never purchase anything quickly haha) and reading reviews, I decided upon a particular website that has a store on eBay named Enchanted Waters.  I will share in a future post the facial products I now faithfully use that have made a beautiful and beneficial difference for my face 🙂 Anyways, back to our hair!

An amazing, natural and revitalizing pure ingredient is shea butter for your hair.  Enchanted Waters mentioned above has a 3.5oz Tea Tree Conditioning Shampoo Bar that is FANTASTIC for your hair and contains:

  • Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Organic Palm Oil, Soy Oil and Sunflower Oil
  • Shea Butter
  • Essential Oils of: Tea Tree and Cajeput
  • Parsley Powder
  • Glycerin
  • Natural Vitamin E

This is pH balanced for all hair types, contain NO harsh chemicals and promises to leave you with thicker, more manageable and shinier hair!  And of course, you can check elsewhere for shampoo bars so here are a few other cautions to be aware of when shopping for shea butter:

FAKE UNREFINED SHEA BUTTER: Hard, green or some awkward color, smells bad, mixed with various ingredients.

  • Unrefined: Pure, straight from nature (most expensive)
  • Refined: bleached but has some of it’s original components intact.
  • Processed/Industrialized: Stripped of its natural components. Non natural components like hexane is added to yield more shea butter.

The Tea Tree Conditioning Shampoo Bar mentioned above has shea butter in addition with other natural ingredients.  You can also purchase from other websites pure, unrefined shea which can be used once or twice a week as a revitalizer.  Massage it into your scalp and hair and then wrap with a warm towel for 30 minutes.  It improves hair texture, moisture and growth.  If you’re a swimmer, you can apply it to help protect hair from chlorine and salt.  Shea Butter is a daily moisturizer that has numerous uses:

Stretch Marks, Chapped or Dry Lips, Chaffing, Blemishes, Hands, Cuticles,

Feet, Cracked Heels, Bumps, Massages, Dry, Flaky, Rough & Dull Skin,

Dark Spots, Marks, Minor Scars, Premature Facial Lines, Blisters, Knees, Elbows and More!

Obviously, I cannot say enough positive about Shea Butter and other natural ingredients we can use to enhance our natural beauty.  Give it a try and if you have any questions, comment below or shoot me an email at  I would love to hear your thoughts and what hair products you love and use!

So whether you were contemplating purchasing one of the new MLB batting practice hats or not, by creating healthy hair you will not need to wear it to cover up a bad hair day!

Healthy is Beautiful no matter what size and shape you are, remember that!

I am going to cleanse and moisturize my face with the soap and facial moisturizer which I will be sharing with you in a future post so I gotta go!
